abstract

resistance of 11 genotypes of sugar beet to cyst nematode was evaluated in two separate greenhouse experiments in completely randomized design. in each experiment, 50 seedlings of each genotype were inoculated with 1000 nematode larves in several times. after 9 weeks, the number of cysts on each plant was counted. data were analyzed with sas program. the results showed that the genotypes differed significantly in number of cysts on them in both experiments. genotypes were classified into 3 groups: resistant, moderately susceptible and susceptible based onduncanmethod at a = 0.01. w-1009,w-1010 and nemakil were in resistant group, while rasoul and some other  hybrids were in susceptible group. finally , it was found that greenhouse evaluation is a simple and efficient method for screening  resistant genotypes and breeding lines and it can be used for 2-3 times in one year in greenhouse conditions.

Sugar Beet Genotypes Grouping under Normal and Saline Conditions

For ranking and grouping of full-sibs and hybrids of sugar beet obtained from breeding programs, two separate experiments were carried out at the farm of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station of Miandoab in 2017 under saline and normal conditions. For this purpose, 17 full-sibs and 28 hybrids differing in resistance and susceptibility to environmental stresses were investigate...

evaluation of different sugar beet populations for resistance to beet cyst nematode (heterodera schachtii schmidt(

in this research, 30 sugar beet breeding populations developed by crossing of sugar beet monogerm and multigerm male strile lines with nematode resistant wild sources (w-1009 contaning resistance gene from beta procumbens and w-1010 contaning resistance genes from beta maritima) were compared with resistant and susceptible checks with respect to nematode resistance and yield. the experiments we...

Evaluation of the Resistance of Some Indigenous Wheat Genotypes to Cereal Cyst Nematode, Heterodera Filipjevi

Cereal cyst nematode (CCN) is one of the most deleterious pathogens of cereal crops worldwide including Iran. The species Heterodera filipjevi is widely distributed in the fields of wheat. Growing the resistant cultivars is a suitable environmental friendly and cost-saving procedure for nematode control. In current research, the resistance of 13 indigenous wheat genotypes and seven common ...

FUNGI ASSOCIATED WITH SUGAR BEET CYST NEMATODE FROM FIELDS OF W. AZERBAIJAN (I)

Fungi associated with sugar beet cyst nematode (Heterodera schachtii Schmidt) in W. Azerbaijan were isolated from different stages during 2002-2004 and studied. Some 300 fungal isolates were obtained. In this paper, 16 species belonging to nine genera are identified. Among them, three species viz. Lecanicillium aphanocladii, Myrothecium verrucaria andPlectosporium tabacinum are as new records t...

evaluation of superior sugar beet genotypes for resistance to important root rot pathogens in the greenhouse

four sugar beet genotypes with different reactions to root rot pathogens were evaluated for resistance to important root rot agents including pythium aphanidermatum, phytophthora drechsleri, rhizoctonia solani ag-2-2 and r. solani ag-4. inoculums for pythium and phytophthora were 3-5 day actively growing colony of the pathogens on cma medium, while for rhizoctonia isolates were nine infected co...

Evaluation of some drought tolerance genes expressions and enzymatic changes in sugar beet monogerm cultivars under drought stress conditions

Sugar beet is a strategic and industrial crop and important in sugar production. Drought is a limited factor in sugar beet yield. Base on this, an experiment carried out using a split-plot format in the randomized complete block design with 4 replications in 1394-5 at Chenaran area (Bahman Jan village). The main plot included three drop irrigation regimes: 7, 14 and 21 days interval as normal, ...
